BEAUTIFUL LITERATURE FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR: THOREAU'S WALDEN POND
A lot of people have been on holiday recently, so it's been a wonderful time to be in close contact with Nature or relax and listen to beautiful literature from the Romantic period, which focused on mother Nature too. (This is an excellent listening exercise for advanced students!)
Here is a beautiful example, the book Walden, written by Trascendentalist Henry David Thoreau, who had a deep influence on later thought: he is said to have initiated the American tradition of Environmental philosophy. Enjoy this beautiful poetic prose!

ROMANTIC AMERICAN LITERATURE IN THE XIXth CENTURY: EMERSON
Emerson's poems are a must-read for anyone who is interested in literature in general or in poetry in particular. Here is a web where you'll find his short poems, really inspiring!
Give all to love;
Obey thy heart;
Friends, kindred, days,
Estate, good fame,
Plans, credit, and the muse;
Nothing refuse.
'Tis a brave master,
Let it have scope,
Follow it utterly,
Hope beyond hope;
ROMANTICISM!
It's autumn, the day is shorter and we have more time for instrospection and access to our deep source of knowledge. To connect with it, a good start are Ralph Waldo Emerson's wise words in these quotes

Try this exercise ,enjoy being an advanced student and be proud of yourself: you already know a lot of English!
